Ai Ya-ya, it's Low

Once in a while, a treat falls onto my lap and the latest was when the editor of another section passed me tickets to a children's musical drama at the Actors' Studio in Bangsar Shopping Complex. Whee!

And what a treat it was! Titled A Little Mission Impossible, it's about an eight-year-old pixie who has to protect an egg and bring it on a journey to its cocoon to save the world from losing its colour.

The title character was such a joy to watch as she could act, sing and dance but even she was soon eclipsed by the wicked White Witch who was hardly menacing but turned out to be all funny transvestite-like.

Heart-warming at times, especially when the bad fox character is touched by the kind ways of Ai Ya-ya, the cute pixie, and realises that a friendship that cares is so much more worthwhile than blind loyalty to a bad master.

The highlight of my night was meeting Low Ngai Yuen, she of the prolific life of being radio DJ, columnist, host, emcee, actress, writer, director, mother, and wife. Phew. I really take my hat off to this super-energy gal. No, that's not her in the picture. That's Ai Ya-ya.

Did not take a picture with Low though. Forgot. :(

But my children thoroughly enjoyed the 90-minute production (though it was freezing cold in the auditorium!) so I guess it's a night well spent.
